At Vaillant, we’re on a mission to make heating simple whilst also looking to decarbonise home heating with our heat pump technology. As more homeowners across the UK are looking to upgrade from their traditional gas boiler to a heat pump, our partnership with OVO supports you with the ongoing running costs of a Vaillant heat pump.
Heat Pump Plus is a free type of use add-on for new and existing OVO customers who have a Vaillant aroTHERM or aroTHERM plus air source heat pump installed at their home in the UK**.
The first of its kind, Heat Pump Plus helps you save money on the cost of electricity your heat pump uses to generate heating and hot water.
Heat Pump Plus is available to those with a 'connected Vaillant Heat Pump'. Connected heat pumps will use myVAILLANT connect (an internet gateway) with your myVAILLANT app, alongside your chosen senso control.
By using Heat Pump Plus, your Vaillant heat pump could costs 15p per kWh to run compared to a standard variable tariff of 23p per kWh. This means you could save up to £300 a year on your energy bills* making it a more affordable option to heat your home.
1. If you are not already an OVO customer, you will have to switch your electricity supply. Click here to get in touch from OVO and setup an account. Please note, to switch to an OVO customer will be subject to OVO's eligibility criteria.
2. You must have smart meter installed that sends readings every 30 minutes. If you don’t have one already, you can get one installed for free through OVO.
3. You must have the following Vaillant products installed in your property:
Heat Pump Plus is available to both new and existing Vaillant air source heat pump installations.
If your Vaillant heat pump isn't connected to the internet, which Heat Pump Plus requires, then contact your Vaillant installer to come and fit what you need.
Once you've signed up to Heat Pump Plus, all the electricity used will first be charged at your usual OVO rate.
OVO will then view the heat pump usage and then the lower 15p per kWh rate for the electricity your heat pump uses.
At the end of the month, the money saved will then be added as credit in your OVO account within the first 7 working days of the following month.
Incorporating heat pump technology into your home is one of the most effective and environmentally friendly ways to cover your heating and hot water needs. Our aroTHERM plus heat pump can achieve a potential SCoP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) of 5.03 making our heat pumps extremely energy efficient.
For air source heat pumps, 75% of the energy comes from the outside air and 25% from your electricity supply.
By opting for a heat pump, you are helping the environment and with Heat Pump Plus, saving money on your OVO electricity bill.
For example, if your standard electricity rate is 23p per kWH, Heat Pump Plus offers you a lower 15p per kWh rate to power your Vaillant heat pump.

When you add Heat Pump Plus to your plan, your home energy rate will stay the same, but the energy consumed by your heat pump will be charged at an effective rate of 15p per kWh (thanks to payment of your Heat Pump Plus credit).The £303.54 saving is based on an air source heat pump with a UK average Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (or efficiency rating) of 2.8 and an annual consumption of 3,644 kWh with the Heat Pump Plus add-on compared to OVO's average SVT rate of 23.33p per kWh. Actual savings will vary depending on your heat pump usage, efficiency rating and the cost per kWh of your standard home energy tariff.
