How to choose a boiler for your home
A new boiler will be one of the more expensive purchases that you will make as a homeowner. So it’s important to choose the right boiler, from the right people, that will last. At Vaillant, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
1. What boiler do you have?
Most homes in the UK use a gas boiler and heating system to keep things toasty. However, if you’re purchasing a new boiler you may not want to choose a like-for-like replacement; upgrading to a more modern solution to save money in the longterm, or swapping to a solution that better suits your needs.
There are three main types of gas boilers available; combi boilers, system boilers, and conventional vented boilers (sometimes called “regular” boilers). We explain how to figure out what kind of boiler you have, and share the benefits and drawbacks of each type so you can make an informed decision.
2. Get a free, no-obligation, quote
We champion local installers. Find your local Gas Safe registered Vaillant Advance installers. They’ll be able to share a no-obligation quotation with you free of charge.
Top tip: We recommend gathering three quotes. This provides you with enough information to make an informed decision, but not so much that you become overwhelmed. Whilst price is a significant factor, also consider reviews and how comfortable you feel with your installer. Once you’re happy, go ahead and book your boiler installation with your Vaillant installer of choice.
3. Guarantees and servicing
Once your boiler has been installed be sure to register your guarantee. Your guarantee covers you for the repair of any defects related to the manufacture of your boiler and covers both parts and labour. To register a new Vaillant boiler, you can do this online, or if you’re installer is a Vaillant Advance member, they will be able to offer an exclusive extended guarantee on any Vaillant boiler and will register it for you.
You must have your boiler serviced annually to help maintain it working safely and efficiently. Annual services are also a requirement to maintain the validity of your guarantee.
