Farewell, Internet Explorer.

Where are you on your heat pump journey?

If you're interested in heat pumps but want to know more, or you are ready to upgrade and start the installation process, we're here to make sure you find the right heating solution for you and your home:

Things to consider before installing a heat pump in your home

  • Have you got a valid EPC rating?

An EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) gives your property an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). The certificate is valid for 10 years.

  • Have you got enough space inside and outside your home?

You will need sufficient space inside your property for a hot water cylinder and (buffer tank if required) space outside for the external unit.

  • What radiators do you currently have?

Depending on your existing heating system and the size and age of your radiators, you may need to replace them for a bigger output if you’re having a heat pump installed. This is because they release more heat at a slower rate and at a lower temperature than traditional boilers.

  • Has your home got sufficient insulation in place?

To get the most out of your heat pump, it works best if your home is well insulated such as cavity wall insulation, double or triple glazed windows and loft insulation.

  • What kind of project are you doing?

Are you installing a heat pump in a new property or are you doing a renovation?

  • What budget do you have?

With the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) you can get a grant of up to £7,500 off the cost of installing a heat pump.
