Vaillant UK is proud to announce that it has been shortlisted in the Innovative Product category for the Building Communities Awards 2019
The project was a collaboration between Vaillant and Derby Homes to install air source heat pumps on tenants’ balconies in a high rise block of flats in Derby city.
The aroTHERM heat pumps chosen by Derby Homes are manufactured by Vaillant, a worldwide leader in the design and production of efficient heating technologies. Vaillant worked closely with Derby Homes to project manage the installation of the new energy efficient heating and hot water appliances. This included liaison with the tenants, with Vaillant supplying a show vehicle to demonstrate the heat pumps and explain the benefits of using this technology. Further to that, Vaillant also trained Derby Homes staff as installers to reduce the cost of the project as much as possible. The continued support from Vaillant meant that this innovative project could be implemented with the minimum disruption to the tenants' heating and hot water supply to ensure the process was as unintrusive as possible. In total, 54 flats were fitted with air source heat pumps on their balconies, where tenants can still enjoy usable space.
John Bailey, Sales Director – Commercial and Renewable Systems commented, “Working with Derby Homes was a great project for Vaillant, ably demonstrating how heat pump technology can be installed in various situations, even with limited outside space available. This installation will save tenants money off their heating bills as well as reducing the carbon output of this building. We are proud to work with Derby Homes to reduce the risk of fuel poverty for their tenants and help them hit their carbon reduction targets.”
