Air-to-water heat pumps
Air-to-water heat pumps absorb energy from the outside air. They take in the air and the warmth created through compression cycles within the heat pump, after use the cooled air is put back into the external environment.
Instead of ground loops or a big area of land, air-to-water heat pumps only require one location for the outdoor unit. An air-to-water heat pump is designed either as a single block with only one outdoor unit or as a multi-block system. A multi-block system consists of an outdoor and an indoor unit.
Air-to-water heat pumps can be installed as a stand-alone solution or retrofitted onto an existing system (known as a hybrid system). Systems with air-to-water heat pumps can be expanded easily, for example, with solar panels and a boiler. Air-to-water heat pumps are one of the most cost effective renewables solutions.
