Vaillant's expanded design team offers valuable heat pump support to transition to low carbon technology

With the ongoing drive towards low carbon heating continuing to grab headlines, Vaillant has announced the appointment of John Bailey to the role of System Sales and Design Director.

With more than 15 years-experience at Vaillant, John will lead the company’s expanded Design Service Team to ensure its specifier customers can get the support they need for all installs pre, during and post-sale, whether this is an energy efficient boiler system or to help with the transition to the lower carbon alternative - heat pump installations.

There has already been an increased interest in heat pump technology but as we move closer towards the government’s 2025 Future Homes Standard commitments and the target to fit 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028, the take up of this low carbon technology is expected to continue to grow. In preparation, and to help those already making the move to heat pumps, the Vaillant Design Service Team has doubled in size to ensure it can meet the growing demand from clients to successfully adopt this technology now and for the future. Being technology agnostic, the team uses a system first approach to ensure the most efficient heating solution is specified.

John Bailey comments: “Heat pumps are currently dominating the news and, as a company, we have been seeing more and more customers specifying the technology. As a heat pump manufacturer, we’re in an excellent position to help support clients in the transition to low carbon technology, meeting regulations and maximising the efficiencies they can offer.

“There is no doubt that opting for a heat pump is more complex than installing or replacing a gas boiler. It is bespoke to each project and we need to ensure it is specified, designed and installed correctly from the outset for optimum efficiency. In addition, we’re also on hand to offer advice on heat loss calculations, schematic drawings and pipe sizing.

“This is where the Design Services team is able to really add value to customers. When you buy a Vaillant heat pump you are not just buying the physical product. Instead, you are getting end-to-end support from design services, after sales, our engineer network and expert consultancy, to make each project as energy efficient as possible whilst meeting the requirements specified”

John’s appointment and the investment in the Design Services Team is further testament to Vaillant’s commitment to a low carbon future. It follows the recent announcement that it is also investing in expanding production at its Belper site, where it will be manufacturing its award-winning aroTHERM plus heat pump from 2022.

John continues: “Vaillant is thinking ahead. A lot of support is needed to help the industry move into installing low carbon heating systems. With this expansion of our Design Services we now have a dedicated team to support with whichever technology is most suitable for the project, whether this is a boiler, heat pump or hybrid system.”
