Vaillant Provides Energy Savings for Bolton Community Centre

Vaillant has supplied materials for a brand new heating system for The Platt Hill Community Centre, as part of a collaboration with Clarion Housing Group and their partnering contractor, ENGIE.

The Bolton-based project was designed to improve the energy efficiency of the community centre, with the intention of lowering running costs for the users of the building space. Ultimately, the end goal was to allow the local community to effectively allocate its limited funds towards facilities, services and training, rather than unnecessary energy costs.

The original heating system was installed when the building was first constructed over fifty years ago in 1964, so it was crucial to renew the system in its entirety. Vaillant’s ecoTEC plus 48kW boiler was selected for the job due to its many energy saving features. Built with a high efficiency, stainless steel heat exchanger, the ecoTEC offers an impressive 94 per cent efficiency rating, translating to lower running costs for the end user. Furthermore, the addition of advanced modulation during periods of low heat demand ensures that the system only consumes low levels of energy, with maximised efficiency.

As well as designing and commissioning the new system at no additional cost, Vaillant also supplied a number of accessories free of charge. This included a VRC 700 System control pack, which not only offers ultimate ease of use for the end user, but includes weather compensating technology to effortlessly ensure the appliance works at optimum efficiency.

Julie King, senior project manager at Clarion Housing Group comments: “The community centre is a vital resource for those in the Platt Hill area, and the group which leases the building, Enable u2 Do It, has to carefully manage funds in order to support the many groups which use the space. By improving the energy efficiency of the building and the heating system, more money can go into the valuable initiatives which the facility is home to.

“When it came to choosing a heating solution, the proven delivery of lower energy consumption and with it, reduced energy costs, along with the ability to efficiently satisfy heating and hot water needs, was central to selecting ecoTEC and the accompanying accessories. Vaillant worked closely with us and the installing contractor at all stages with great professionalism and attention to detail to deliver what is a fantastic result for all concerned.”

Mike Cubrilo, regional business manager at Vaillant adds: “With a whole host of built-in features, installation and servicing of ecoTEC could not be more straightforward. Lightweight for its class, compact design, and a comprehensive range of flues, fittings and accessories means that ecoTEC boilers can be sited almost anywhere – making it the perfect choice for this project. We are delighted to have played a role in rejuvenating this important hub for the Bolton community.”
