Vaillant and Derby Homes Renewables Project Gets Another Awards Shortlisting

Vaillant and Derby Homes continue to wow judges on awards panels with their innovative renewable heating project in a block of flats in Derby.

Vaillant and Derby Homes installed air-to-water heat pumps on balconies at a social housing multi-occupancy property in Derby City. The teams from Vaillant and Derby Homes worked closely at all stages of the specification and installation of the project, with Vaillant also training the Derby Homes team to install and maintain the heat pumps with minimal disruption to the tenants. An aroTHERM heat pump was installed on the balcony of each flat occupying very little space, so the tenants still have the use of their private outside space.

Removing electric storage heaters from the properties means that energy use has reduced, bringing down the carbon footprint of the building while residents have smaller energy bills. A big win for all of the parties involved in this innovative project.

The Business Green Leaders Awards judges agreed that the project deserves recognition and has shortlisted it in the Renewable Energy Project of the Year category for the 2019 awards.

Commenting on the shortlist, John Bailey, Sales Director – Commercial and Renewable Systems said, “We always knew this project with Derby Homes was special. It represents all that we stand for in the world of renewables at Vaillant – collaboration, ingenuity, and carbon and energy use reduction for the most vulnerable in our society. Vaillant is honoured to be on the shortlist for the Business Green Leaders Awards Renewable Energy Project of the Year Awards.”

Representatives from Vaillant and Derby Homes are looking forward to attending the awards ceremony at The Brewery in London on June 26th.
