The heat pump installer did a very good job explaining all of the steps of the installation taking the time and care to explain how the heat pump would supply my heating and hot water. I was still a little surprised when the drilling equipment arrived on my garden, even though I had been shown pictures, it was larger than I imagined. This was not a problem, as the team were well organised and moved all the equipment into position, even under a telephone cable. The only preparation I had to carry out was to move a small tree close to a bore hole.
The drillers took as much care as possible not to damage the garden. The drilling was quite noisy but this was not a problem as I had informed the neighbours and the drillers didn’t start too early or finish too late. In fact, my neighbours were very interested and the drillers even took time to explain to them what they were doing.
It was not possible to use the drive during most of the installation, so cars were parked on the lane, which caused a little inconvenience. But the protective fence had been arranged in such a way that I could still access my garage. There were some problems drilling the first hole, which took two days to drill, but the second hole was completed in a single day. I was pleased to see that although the manifold pit was large it would be buried and only a man hole cover would be visible.
The installation of the thermal store to the current system required many connections, but the installer had detailed drawings and plans so there were no problems. The system was modified to use the thermal store with the old system and then transferred to the heat pump.
