Vaillant’s Belper factory bucks the trend

  • Listen to the article

01.04.2009: Vaillant has defied the recession by reporting a rise in demand for its British manufactured boilers, leading to a surge in production. In 2008 Vaillant’s Belper factory exceeded 400,000 boilers, making it one of Vaillant’s most efficient and productive plants in Europe. However, due to the overwhelming increase in demand experienced in 2009, Belper factory staff are now working three shifts to keep pace.

With the Belper site surpassing its annual production record for appliances in 2008, it already looks like this could be another record-breaking year. James Parkinson, Brand Marketing Manager of Vaillant comments: “It is testament to the high quality and efficiency levels of our boilers that they are still in demand during the financial downturn. The introduction of new manufacturing protocols such as a one piece flow production has ensured that boilers continue to meet increased demand, without compromising quality.”

The Belper manufacturing site is recognised as a Centre of Manufacturing Excellence throughout Europe and manufactures domestic boilers for both the UK and European export markets. The site has the highest possible manufacturing credentials, including the renowned ‘Quality Management System’ to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

Vaillant’s Belper plant success is a result of its continued investment and dedication towards responsible manufacturing standards:
• The Belper site has been accredited to ISO 14001 for environmental management since 1999
• Its current goal is to increase recycling and reduce landfill mass to zero
