All Vaillant manufactured parts and units, including the DVC variable refrigerant flow (VRF) units launched earlier this year, are covered by the scheme, which lasts for two years. Vaillant’s warranty differs from the standard one offered by other companies in the fact that the onus for repairs is placed upon the manufacturer, rather than the installer.
This unique, ‘no quibble’ warranty sees the company take responsibility for its equipment over the two-year period. Vaillant is aware that very few air conditioning installers have a national coverage of service personnel, resulting in far-flung breakdowns becoming very expensive to resolve, due to the travelling time required. Vaillant will send out an engineer in response to any equipment failures, saving the installer time and money, as they won’t be required to take their own staff off a job to answer a breakdown call.
Mark Richards, Vaillant’s product manager for air conditioning, explains: “Vaillant is renowned for its first class after-sales service, which has helped it to become Europe’s number one boiler manufacturer, and is keen to bring these customer focused services to the air conditioning market.
“Coming from the contracting side of the business, I have first hand experience of the relatively poor level of service offered by air conditioning manufacturers in comparison with the service the Vaillant heating contractor receives. This package, which is standard for all Vaillant air conditioning customers, will make the industry sit up and take notice.
“The service will not only support the installers currently being trained by Vaillant, but also established air conditioning companies considering using Vaillant equipment. Vaillant’s presence in the heating sector, where it employs over 200 service engineers, has given it great experience in warranty activity and is the ideal foundation on which to build the air conditioning offering.”
There are some restrictions on the warranty cover, but these are limited to installation faults, non-Vaillant supplied parts and faults due to external influences, such as power outages.
