The new Centre of Excellence has been created to keep ahead of the heating industry’s demand for training in the application of renewables, domestic heating and air conditioning; in the light of frequent changes in building legislation. Overall the Vaillant Group expects to train over 10,000 customers per year, further facilitated by the resources of the new training centre. This is a flagship addition to the 16 existing Vaillant, Saunier Duval and Glow-worm training centres across the UK.
The training centre is split into three specific areas, one for each brand. All three areas feature demonstration zones, practical workshops with working models, product information and technical classrooms. The Vaillant area features a showroom open to merchants, installers and end users. Of special interest are the working solar rigs, which enable installers to practise fitting a solar domestic hot water system to a roof, something no other current training programme in the UK can offer.
Jim Moore, Country Manager for Vaillant Group comments: “Elland has provided us with a base in the North of the country for over 12 years and is the ideal place for the first Centre of Excellence, to serve the Greater Manchester and Yorkshire regions. As a group, we have a continued commitment to providing the highest level of training available and have invested no less than a quarter of a million pounds in this project so far. We believe training is the way forward for the heating industry as it provides installers with the opportunity to develop skills, build knowledge and raise industry standards.”
Vaillant Group plans to expand its Centre of Excellence network by the addition of two further centres in 2008, one in the West Country and one in the South East.
