Vaillant extends solar offering for 2008

  • Listen to the article

05.06.2008: Vaillant has strengthened its award winning Total System Solution with the introduction of the auroTHERM exclusive VTK 570 vacuum tube collector – a vacuum tube collector with direct flow. The collector offers high efficiency performance and can generate the highest annual solar gains per m2 of any of our solar collectors.

The auroTHERM exclusive VTK 570 has six absorber tubes, 1,500mm long, each with a high selective aluminium nitrate absorber coating, enhancing the collector’s performance. This coating conducts heat via a spacer support for the copper collector pipes, enabling maximum heat to be transferred into the circulating solar fluid. These collector pipes are brazed at the manifold to ensure maximum integrity of the solar system, and are situated inside of the durable sealed borosilicate glass vacuum tube.

The gross collector area is 1.14m2 and the net collector area is 1m2. Each individual tube has the latest generation Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) external reflector, as well as a ceramic coating for long life durability.

Kevin Barker, sales development director at Vaillant, comments: “The auroTHERM exclusive VTK 570 is a strong addition to Vaillant’s Total Solar System, to accompany our solar flat plates, cylinders, boilers and air conditioning offering. As with all Vaillant products, dedicated technical, design and sales support is available, as is the usual high standard of product specific training.”

The new vacuum tubes provide the collectors with the levels of insulation required for high-energy gain, even in low, ambient temperatures. This design allows for the replacement of any of the single glass tubes without the need to drain solar fluid from the system, while also keeping the system operational.

Each collector tube also has a highly visible barium getter, which changes colour and then disappears should the tubes vacuum be lost.

Vaillant’s auroTHERM exclusive VTK 570 vacuum tube collectors can be supplied with a range of optional mounting accessories for use on pitched roofs or A-frames for flat roofs, or at ground level.

From a handling point of view, collector modules are delivered pre-assembled with fitted handling straps and a plastic film around them, which protects them from the sun’s radiant heat and allowing for safe and easy installation during sunny periods. The barium indicator is visible, even when the sun protection film is attached for a quick visual confirmation that the collector vacuum is intact on collector delivery.
