Pentland Plumbing’s client had recently had a new boiler installed, but it hadn’t been specified correctly and was operationally ineffective. Consequently, there were several cold spots in the property, including radiators in a new extension that didn’t get warm. The property is large and has 27 radiators with a 300-litre hot water cylinder.
Keith Hooper evaluated the property’s heating requirements and realised it should have had a boiler with a minimum of 38kW output. He explained: “I approached Vaillant’s technical department and asked them for their opinion. They recommended that the best approach would be to use two high efficiency ecoTEC 624 condensing system boilers, with an output of 24kW each. They also suggested that, for added measure, we should install an additional pump on the flow, to make sure that there were no cold spots in the property. I felt their approach was innovative and would more than resolve the heating challenges my client was currently suffering.”
Mrs Stevens added: “After having received such disappointing service previously, I was keen to have a greater understanding of the advice I had now received. I requested a comprehensive design of how the new boiler installation would work in practice. The Vaillant people were very happy to oblige and this gave me a great deal of peace of mind.”
Following the installation, the cold spots in the property were eliminated and the radiators in the extension got hot for the first time ever.
