Rob Doel of South Wight HA said: “We’ve been using Vaillant boilers for four years; we took the conscious decision to deliberately specify the brand because the products are good and the back-up service is excellent.”
South Wight HA approached Vaillant because Knights Court had nine old floor standing boilers across seven storeys. Doel says: “We asked if they could design us a system using their commercial boiler range that would be much more energy efficient, easy to control, have a back-up system, and comprehensive management controls. I am pleased to say that’s exactly what they did. The boilers are performing well and the controls are so easy to operate.”
South Wight Housing Association owns and manages over 3000 homes and has nearly 300 staff, providing over one-third of the Isle of Wight’s supported housing. As well as developing and managing quality affordable housing for rent and ownership, they invest considerable resources to provide an environment where people really want to live.
Vaillant provided six ecoMAX 65 wall hung boilers, with two boilers per plant room. Three boilers are there to provide additional back-up when the weather is extremely cold or should one of the main boilers fail; to date neither has happened. Each plant room also houses a VRC 630 Boiler Management System; the building was one of the first buildings to use the new VRC 630 system in the UK.
The VRC 630 includes as its features, optimum start and stop, weather compensation of the boilers, cascade control of the boilers and has drastically improved comfort levels in the building.
